December 2017: Intuition

December marks my 26th birthday + 1st birthday of Ambition + Mischief.

Woah, it feels surreal typing that. From starting Ambition + Mischief, transitioning to a full-time freelance career, moving to a new city, investing in personal relationships, and working on my craft as a writer – it’s been a whirlwind of a year with growing pains at every corner.

Despite the uncertainty, there’s one thing that got me through this year (and how I plan to get through 2018): my internal knowing. Or, a less zen bitch way of saying it, my gut feeling and intuition.

This month’s theme on the blog is intuition. We’ll celebrate what got us this far and what keeps us going in the face of uncertainty.

This year, I listened to what my body needed. Sometimes I pretended not to hear because what it was asking was too scary or inconvenient. But for the most part, I listened. And what I needed was in stark contrast to what I had spent the past few years doing.

I spent 2017 reading, writing, listening, observing, resting, seeing a psychologist, taking care of my body, eating foods that were good for my body, eating foods that were shitty for my body but good for my soul, spending time with friends, spending time alone, and probably the most important, spending time with my dog.

I’m not the same person I was a year ago and I’m not entirely sure where, or who, I’ll be this time next year. But, I trust my instincts to take me exactly where I need to be.

Coming Up

This month’s posts will include my story on an unexpected event that made me question everything, simple tips I use to listen to my gut when it feels muffled by fear and confusion, and my favorite books + podcasts to keep me in the zone. If you haven’t already, make sure to sign up for the Ambition + Mischief newsletter so you can be the first to know when these posts go live.

Does this month’s theme feel right to you? Let me know in the comments if we’re on the same wavelength.

With Ambition + Mischief,

Sam
